A refreshed and renewed building has been provided for Port of London staff thanks to an upgrade project at their offices in Gravesend.
We acted as Project Manager and Quantity Surveyor on the scheme which delivers a more comfortable working environment for staff and includes modern offices, new meeting and breakout areas and social spaces.
Port of London’s Visitors also benefit on arrival from the new remodelled reception area that makes the most of panoramic views of the Thames and provides a welcoming space.
The environmental performance of the building also got a makeover, with new building services being installed, including a large photovoltaic installation, which will contribute to the building’s future energy usage.
As the office space remained in use during construction, phased planning was key to the delivery of the project and time was planned into the programme for decanting and recanting of staff between floors and spaces. This required good liaison between the client and the contractor to manage these key periods of movement and ensure that systems and services were kept in use for the client’s staff.
