The project.

Oakwood House Hotel in Maidstone, Kent is a grand Victorian mansion set in the heart of Maidstone. Dating back from 1869, the building contains some wonderful features and our client, Kent County Council owned the property at the time. A business case to expand the facilities being provided would turn it into an exemplar location providing accommodation, conference and event facilities and a wedding venue.

As Employer’s Agents and Quantity Surveyors, we oversaw the construction of a new 300 person capacity function room, associated conferencing facilities together with alterations to the existing building. The new function room blended in seamlessly with the Victorian architecture and has become a key element of the hotel’s success.

The Courtyard Bar, set within a stunning conservatory in the heart of Oakwood House Hotel, now offers a varied selection of lunches, evening meals and bar snacks. This space was created whilst keeping the hotel running, along with the creation of a kitchen servery. Logistics were a key challenge to this scheme, and is much of its success.

We have subsequently carried out further works at the hotel, which includes an additional car park area created in the woodland setting, and refurbishments of the many of the hotel rooms and bathroom facilities. We are very proud of our work at Oakwood House and we are delighted to see it flourish.
