The project.
The scheme will deliver a modern, two-storey teaching block of approximately 1,455m², providing a step change in the quality of the learning environment. The new facilities include:
- 10 classrooms
- Library and ICT suite
- Main reception and group spaces
- Hall and kitchen
- Enhanced external areas including playgrounds, canopies and a rain garden
Procured through the Department for Education’s framework, the project brings together a collaborative design team including LEP | Lee Evans Partnership LLP, CampbellReith, Lloydbore Ltd and Hawden MEP Ltd.
Our Role
Our role as CDM Principal Designer has been about more than compliance — it’s about helping the team think ahead, challenge risk early, and shape a design that works safely in practice.
This has been particularly important at key transition points — from decant into demolition, and now into the delivery of the new build — where sequencing, logistics and the live school environment all bring added complexity.
Working closely with Morgan Sindall and the wider team, we’ve supported a coordinated approach to design risk management, ensuring that hazards are identified early and addressed through practical, buildable solutions.
Sustainability & Approach
The new building reflects a clear commitment to long-term performance and reduced environmental impact. An off-site manufactured timber frame is being used to improve programme efficiency and reduce embodied carbon, alongside:
- Bio-solar roofing
- Photovoltaic panels
- Ground source heat pumps
It’s a joined-up approach, where sustainability, buildability and safety are considered together, not in isolation.
The Outcome
The result will be a safe, modern and future-ready school environment, designed to support both learning and wellbeing for years to come.
For us, it’s a good example of the &More approach in action; working collaboratively, adding value through the design process, and helping the team deliver something that goes beyond the brief.
