This month, b&m continued to join forces with Porchlight, a Kent-based charity supporting homeless and vulnerable individuals, taking part in The Big Sleep Out, which coincided with World Homeless Day on Thursday, 10th October.

This initiative is part of our ongoing commitment to charitable causes, especially those addressing homelessness. A group from b&m participated by sleeping outside to raise awareness and funds for Porchlight, which aims to help individuals struggling with homelessness and those on the brink of losing their homes.

We are very lucky to have our own outdoor space at b&m that provides a green space for team members to escape to throughout the day or experience sleeping outside in a safe environment.

The evening involved a visit from one of the Porchlight team who highlighted the plight of so many of our community leading a very poignant discussion on why it was so important to support the charity.

With temperatures dropping to 5 degrees Celsius, the participants were all very grateful that they are in the fortunate position to have a permanent residence.

Generous sponsorship from friends and family from The Big Sleepout, helped b&m surpass the £10,000 target we had set ourselves for the year, so an uncomfortable night for a few was certainly worth it for the money raised to hopefully keep Kent’s homeless off the street for another night.
