b&m recently joined others in the celebration of the opening of rural housing development, Bartlett Close, Staple. Attendees included Princess Anne who was joined by her husband, Sir Thomas Laurence, marking the first Royal visit to the county since October last year. Princess Anne joined the celebration as a patron of our client for the project, The English Rural Housing Association.

The celebration involved  the planting of a commemorative tree and a presentation of a posy of flowers.

Bartlett Close was completed last year and we’re excited to be able to celebrate the brilliance and hard work that went into achieving its completion. Bartlett Close provides 6 affordable homes, including two one-bedroom bungalows and four two-bedroom houses. Each home is built uniquely whilst still embodying the the aura of the surrounding village. Providing affordable housing is a contribution to the local community that we’re incredibly proud to be a part of.

We acted as Employers Agent,  Quantity Surveyor and Principal Designer on this scheme.

Alex Shearman, one our dedicated Project Surveyors, worked on the development of this project and has enjoyed every part of it although there were challenges. The project was mainly carried out during  Covid-19, which was a difficult time in itself. However, once challenges were overcome, we were able to contribute towards providing much needed affordable housing for the local community. Alex has enjoyed broadening her residential sector experience.

A job well done for all those involved:
