A brand new secondary school has welcomed it’s first cohort of students for a two day induction, ahead of it fully opening in September. The Barton Manor School, located on Spring Lane, Canterbury, replaces the former Chaucer School and has been designed to enhance the delivery of an innovative curriculum with strong pastoral care and guidance. Barton Court Academy Trust were heavily involved throughout the design stage and were able to offer insight into their ideal arrangement of the teaching spaces and flow of students whilst the design team took into consideration the closely adjacent residential area.
As well as the usual classrooms, a sports block with accompanying multi-use games area and grass sports pitches have also been delivered plus specialist spaces for technology, hair, beauty and therapy. Four 3-storey atriums cleverly connect teaching spaces together and deliver a community feel at the heart of the school.
b&m provided Clerk of Works services throughout this £17m project, working with the project team and contractor to ensure the highest quality delivery.
