An exciting project we have been working on alongside with ON Architecture, DHA Planning Group and for client A Better Choice for Property, last week received resolution to grant planning permission from Ashford Borough Council’s virtual planning committee.

A Better Choice for Property marked the resolution to grant by announcing the site’s new name, Infinity Ashford. Named in tribute to John Wallis, one of the world’s most prominent mathematicians, who was born and raised in Ashford, Wallis made numerous contributions to mathematics but is best known for his work on the infinite series and is credited with the development of the infinity symbol.

The scheme, located on Beaver Road and Avenue Jacques Faucheux and opposite Ashford International, will see a brownfield and former industrial site redeveloped to provide residential units and commercial space.

The newly approved design includes several different height residential blocks, including a statement 16-storey tower (18 storeys including parking levels) on the prominent corner of the site that will provide extended views for residents across Ashford and Kent.

216 residential units including 207 apartments and 9 townhouses will now be developed on the former retail site. The apartments will be a mix of 1, 2 or 3 bed units, while the townhouses will offer three bed properties. Each unit will have its own private amenity space, either in the form of a balcony or terrace area and the project also features a residents only landscaped quad area, located in the centre of the site and a rooftop terrace which will provide extra amenity space and foster a sense of community.

Over 1,250sm of commercial space has been incorporated into the design, including three units at street level facing Beaver Road and a destination roof top restaurant and bar located on the 15th and 16th floors which will provide the town with an new entertainment offering. The commercial spaces on the lower levels have been developed to be flexible and will enable them to respond to the demand of the local area once completed.

B&M are providing Project Management, Quantity Surveying and Employer’s Agent services for the project. Andrew Walker, Director, said “We’re thrilled with Ashford Borough Council’s agreement for resolution to grant permission for this exciting development. The striking scheme will bring new life to Beaver Road and provide much needed new homes for the local community. We look forward to progressing the scheme forward and seeing it take shape.”

The site has already undergone demolition and work now starts to progress the project to site, with an estimated two year time frame for construction.
