B&M had the pleasure of being invited to watch the Folkestone Optimists Hockey Club play on Saturday. We’re proud sponsors of the club, who have 7 mens and 4 ladies sides in regular action, and we had the chance to watch the first team take on Hailsham.
We have further vested interest in the team as our Project Surveyor, Elliott Webb, is a member of the club and plays for the first team in goal.
The club was formed in 1926 and they currently have over 150 adults registered to play as well as over 200 juniors. In 2013, the club moved to the new facilities at Three Hills Sports Park and are one of the core clubs located there, alongside cricket and with athletics soon to join them.

It was brilliant to watch the team in action as they battled the weather as well as the opposition, however a strong start lead to the team winning 7-1.
We’d like the thank the club for their hospitality on Saturday and we look forward to coming down for another match in the Spring.
