The Port of London Authority will soon have a refreshed and renewed building for their staff thanks to an upgrade project that has recently started on site.

We are acting as Project Manager and Quantity Surveyor on the scheme which will deliver a more comfortable working environment for staff and includes modern offices, new meeting and breakout areas and social spaces.

The environmental performance of the building will also get a makeover, with new building services being installed, including a large photovoltaic installation, which will contribute to the building’s future energy usage.

Peter Steen, PLA’s Director of Marine Operations, said “This project has been under discussion for many years in different forms, and I am really pleased that we are now getting on and making it happen. It will give us a modern and improved office space to support agile working. Visiting customers will immediately see our connection to the port and river on entering our HQ, and we will achieve that with much better environmental performance.”

Paul Gannaway, Director at B&M, added “We have been working closely with PLA to develop a project that not only provides an exciting home for their staff, but that also tells a story of their connection to the river. We’re pleased that this project is now underway and look forward to seeing it through to fruition.”

Area have been appointed to deliver the project, which is due to finish next year.
