Gravesend Grammar School
It’s with great pleasure we announce the completion of our Gravesend Grammar School project. Since having started on site back in 2021, this is inevitably the projects greatest milestone.
Works consisted of a remarkable canteen, a new car park, and most recently completed, external social spaces marking the completion of the project. A new teaching block was also completed using MMC to create SIPS Panels (structurally insulated panel systems).
Dom Mulford, one of our Senior Project Surveyors formed part of the hard-working team that helped push Gravesend Grammar School through to completion. Betteridge and Milsom acted as Quantity Surveyor and Clerk of Works on behalf of our client KCC. The scheme was triggered by the school reaching full capacity. Many of the facilities were also no longer suitable for use. Overall improvement of community education has been made possible by the increase of grammar school vacancies in the area through the school.
b&m worked closely with: Fusion Project Management, Baxall, Clague Architects and Wilson and Partners to deliver a project that exceeded satisfaction. Collaboration was key between all parties, and this made for a well-run and successful project. Despite the result, there were a few notable challenges. One of them being that much of the work on site was carried out during Covid-19, inevitably posing multiple restrictions, and slowing down multiple processes. Whilst working on site we also had to consider the safety of the children and restrictions were implemented to minimise overall disruption. We were able to deliver despite restrictions.
Dom has thoroughly enjoyed working on Gravesend Grammar School throughout the project’s life. The challenges made for excellent learning curves. Being able to witness first hand just how beneficial the works were for the students and staff was a fulfilling experience for b&m. The children now have transformed areas which will inevitably contribute towards their overall mental wellbeing at school.
A massive well done to all those involved with Gravesend Grammar School! It’s been a pleasure seeing this project through to completion.
