Celebrating Albert and supporting Mesothelioma!
We’re excited to be supporting Albert Walton as he celebrates his 75th birthday.
However, this isn’t your average birthday celebration. Albert is celebrating by taking part in 7.5 testing physical challenges.
Not to worry, it is not without reason! The challenges are in support of Mesothelioma UK a charity that works tiredly to support those effected by the devastating illness. The condition is known to affect the construction industry heavily. Albert, who is a site inspector knows all about the illness and has dedicated his time to raising funds towards those affected.
Mesothelioma is caused by exposure to asbestos and is a form of cancer that predominantly affects those working on older buildings. There are around 5000 deaths a year and these statistics show no signs of lowering anytime soon. In 2030, the illness is said to reach peak fatalities.
Supporting those effected by Mesothelioma is important and its amazing to see Albert doing all that he can. Albert’s first challenge was in March and we’re happy to announce he’s made it to Challenge number 5. Betteridge and Milsom are proud to say that we’re supporting Albert for such an incredible cause. This Sunday he will be taking part in a 75km cycle time trial from New Romney. This should take about 3 hours. Challenging!! Not only are we sponsoring Albert, but some of the b&m team will also be taking part in the bike ride.
Wish us luck and stay tuned to find out how the challenge goes! If you would like to support Albert’s cause, have a look at his Just Giving Page.
